There are several ways you can practice your sections at home. While you can search YouTube for choir performances of most songs from Handel’s Messiah, Voices of Omaha recommends using Chord Perfect to practice individual parts.
This is a free resource that will allow you to listen to each song with your own section emphasized. The site can be accessed through PC/Mac computers, phones, and tablets.
To practice using Chord Perfect:
- Visit www.chordperfect.com/george-handel/
- In the Messiah column, select your section (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass).
- You will see an audio player with the complete list of songs. Click the song you want to sing and it will automatically begin playing.
- Use the buttons in the audio player to play, move back, slow down the track, or reset to return to the normal speed.
